**Senior Software Engineer, Care Automation** **About the Role** Toast is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Care Automation team, which builds systems and automations powering customer support operations. You'll design, build, and own backend services and integrations spanning Salesforce, billing systems, identity verification, and AI-enabled case management workflows. **Key Responsibilities** • Design, build, and own backend services and APIs for Customer Care Agent workflows • Build and maintain integrations across Salesforce, billing middleware, document management, and iPaaS platforms • Write automated tests and participate in code reviews to maintain quality and reliability • Monitor feature rollouts, respond to incidents, and iterate based on performance data • Partner with product, design, and cross-functional teams on requirements and goals • Leverage AI tools to enhance development workflow and velocity **Required Qualifications** • 5+ years delivering production backend systems at scale • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or another object-oriented language • Familiarity with API lifecycle management (versioning, documentation, deprecation) • Strong understanding of query languages, data modeling, and data distribution • Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience **Nice to Have** • Hands-on experience building with LLMs in production • Familiarity with Workato or similar iPaaS platforms • Prior work with Salesforce or other CRM platforms • Experience with React and GraphQL **Compensation** Base salary ranges by geographic zone: • Zone A: $159,000 – $254,000 USD • Zone B: $138,000 – $221,000 USD • Zone C: $125,000 – $200,000 USD Total rewards include equity, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits. **Work Model** Remote-eligible with hybrid collaboration expectations varying by region.
