**Software Development Engineer III — Commerce & Loyalty** **Role Overview** Join ID.me's Commerce & Loyalty team to build Shop, a platform connecting members of trusted communities (military, first responders, teachers, nurses, students, government employees) with exclusive offers, cashback, and benefits from leading brands. You'll craft the member-facing experience using Next.js and React, shaping how millions discover offers and claim rewards. **Location:** 5 days/week onsite in Mountain View, CA or McLean, VA **Key Responsibilities** • Build and maintain the Shop member experience with Next.js and React • Develop responsive, accessible, high-performance UI for offer discovery, cashback, and rewards • Integrate frontend with backend REST and GraphQL services and identity systems • Contribute to and reuse shared design system and component library • Optimize frontend performance and reliability (Core Web Vitals, rendering strategy) under peak traffic • Practice AI-first development using AI tooling across implementation, testing, and review • Uphold security and privacy of member data on the client • Collaborate across Product, Design, Application, QE, API, and Infrastructure teams • Write high-quality, well-tested code with automated tests and observability instrumentation • Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation **Required Qualifications** • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent) • 4+ years building web applications with strong frontend depth in React and Next.js • Proficiency with TypeScript and modern frontend tooling • Fluent using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) with discipline to validate output • Proven ability to deliver features end-to-end with automated tests, observability, and documentation • Experience with containerized, cloud-based, infrastructure-as-code ecosystems (GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Nomad) • Strong technical communication and collaborative skills **Preferred Qualifications** • Building and consuming REST or GraphQL APIs in production • Performance optimization for high-traffic consumer web • Design systems and component library experience • WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive UI design • E-commerce, marketplace, offers, loyalty, or payments domain experience • Backend familiarity for full-stack contribution • Event-driven architectures and cloud-native patterns **Compensation** U.S. Base: $139,725–$160,367 | Mountain View, CA: $172,528–$192,904 *Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, parental leave, unlimited PTO, and more.*
