**Senior iOS Engineer, Data Platforms** **About the Role:** The Data Platforms team at The New York Times is seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to lead the evolution of foundational behavioral data tools and mobile data infrastructure. You'll shape the design, implementation, and maintenance of event collection, experimentation, analytics instrumentation, and mobile data contracts at scale across iOS applications including News, Games, Cooking, and The Athletic. **Location:** New York City (Hybrid, 2+ days/week) **Responsibilities:** • Build and ship iOS features using Swift and SwiftUI • Write clean, maintainable code with unit tests • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with QA • Contribute to app architecture, documentation, and roadmap planning • Integrate with internal services and third-party APIs • Support journalistic independence and company mission **Basic Qualifications:** • 5+ years professional experience building native iOS applications in Swift • Expertise in Swift, Swift Concurrency, and modern iOS patterns (MVVM, unidirectional data flow) • Experience designing and maintaining shared libraries/SDK-style code • Experience with analytics systems, event-driven architectures, or experimentation frameworks • Track record of independently owning large technical initiatives **Preferred Qualifications:** • Mobile platform tooling or internal SDK experience • Experimentation systems, feature flags, and A/B testing infrastructure • Performance optimization (startup time, memory, runtime) • Data governance, privacy, and compliance knowledge • High-traffic consumer application experience **Compensation:** Base salary: $140,000–$160,000 USD Eligible for variable pay, bonuses, RSUs, and comprehensive benefits including 401(k), health coverage, paid leave, and professional development. **REQ-020532**
