**Senior Software Engineer, SQL Engines** **About the Role** Join MongoDB's SQL Engines team to build the future of the MongoDB SQL Interface, bridging MongoDB's powerful document data model with SQL-based tools. You'll work on query languages and database systems, enabling developers and analysts to query, analyze, and visualize MongoDB data using SQL. **Key Responsibilities** • Design, build, and optimize tools at the intersection of relational and flexible-schema databases • Collaborate with product and customer experience teams to evaluate needs and build intuitive features • Monitor and improve performance, scalability, and reliability for large datasets and complex queries • Stay updated on emerging database and cloud industry trends • Advocate for technical excellence while balancing feature delivery and system quality **Required Qualifications** • 5+ years professional software engineering experience with emphasis on backend systems and databases • Proficiency in at least one compiled language; interest in Rust, Java, and Go • Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, software design/architecture) • Interest in database query engine theory and practice • Familiarity with SQL query execution, optimization, and relational database systems • Strong problem-solving and communication skills **Preferred Qualifications** • Professional experience or M.Sc./Ph.D in database query engines • Familiarity with MongoDB or other non-relational databases **Location** Austin, New York City, Palo Alto, San Francisco, or remote (USA) **Compensation (U.S.)** $126,000 – $248,000 USD base salary **Req.
