**Senior Staff Software Engineer – Test Automation Infrastructure (ZIA Core)** **About the Role** Join Zscaler's ZIA Engineering team as a Senior Staff Software Engineer focused on test automation infrastructure. This hybrid role (3 days/week in San Jose, CA) reports to the Sr Manager, Software Engineering, QA. You'll own the architecture, development, and maintenance of high-scale system test automation for ZIA Core Datapath—a cloud security platform processing 400B+ transactions daily. **Key Responsibilities** • Architect and maintain scalable system test automation infrastructure for cloud products at massive scale • Build repeatable automation suites for L4-L7 technologies (cloud firewall, IPsec/GRE tunneling, load balancers, IPS/IDS, routing/switching) • Collaborate cross-functionally on design, development, and maintenance of cloud-based solutions • Act as owner and advocate for testing at scale, pushing software limits through strong coding and debugging • Mentor junior engineers and continuously optimize regression cycles **What You Bring** • 12+ years of experience with strong Python programming skills for test automation frameworks • Deep understanding of TCP/IP stack, HTTP(S), TLS, PKI, DNS, DHCP, VPN, HA, routing, switching, and tunneling (IPsec/GRE) • Strong L3, L4, L7 filtering knowledge with hands-on load balancer, IPS/IDS, and router experience • Proven expertise in functional, integration, performance, and scale testing for cloud security/SaaS products • Excellent debugging/troubleshooting skills for network infrastructure, HTTP/SSL, and firewall issues • Foundational AI/ML understanding with experience leveraging AI-driven solutions **Nice to Have** • Experience with AI-assisted coding, static/dynamic analysis, or intelligent automation tools • Hands-on traffic generators, performance/load testing tools, and fuzzing techniques • Track record mentoring engineers and leading large-scale test automation initiatives **Compensation & Benefits** Base Pay: $157,500 – $225,000 USD Comprehensive benefits include health plans, flexible time off, parental leave, retirement options, education reimbursement, and in-office perks.
