## Senior Software Engineer, Identity & Access Management (FedRAMP) ### About the Team The MongoDB Atlas team helps users manage MongoDB at global scale. We’re responsible for MongoDB Atlas—our database-as-a-service offering and fastest-growing product—enabling users to deploy fault-tolerant, globally distributed MongoDB clusters in minutes. You’ll join the Atlas Identity and Access Management (IAM) team. IAM is both a platform and product team: - **Internal**: provides secure, durable services for internal engineers - **External**: delivers user-facing authentication and authorization features IAM owns Atlas authentication (**OAuth, SSO, Federated Identity**) and authorization (**RBAC, ABAC**) systems, among others. ### FedRAMP Requirement The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is a US government-wide program for security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. **FedRAMP requirement:** anyone accessing customer data or metadata inside the Authorization Boundary must be a **US Citizen on US Soil**. ### Work Location We’re looking to speak with candidates **based in New York City, NY** for our **hybrid** working model. --- ## Role Responsibilities - Design, architect, build, and deliver core pieces of IAM - Lead projects from specification to delivery - Mentor and grow other team members - Improve the codebase, best practices, and design principles - Define top priorities, communicate them, and execute - Lead and contribute to complex technical projects and initiatives --- ## Candidate Profile - **5+ years** of software engineering, primarily backend systems - Proficient in a modern compiled language (**Java, Go, C#, C++,** etc.) - Willingness to learn **JavaScript and/or TypeScript** and modern frontend technologies (**React, Redux**, etc.) (prior experience is a plus) - Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) - Desire to collaborate and mentor fellow engineers - Curious, collaborative, empathetic, and intellectually honest - Passion for problem solving and learning in CS/software engineering domains - Experience building identity & access management systems (authentication like **OAuth/SSO**, authorization like **RBAC/ABAC/ReBAC**, login/registration) is a plus --- ## Success Measures - **1 week:** complete your first pull request - **3 months:** contribute to a large project - **6 months:** lead the design and execution of your own project
