**Senior Engineering Manager, Games Mobile Apps** **About the Role:** Lead a team focused on The New York Times Games mobile platform (iOS and Android). You'll report to the Director of Engineering, Games Platform, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver and maintain the premier destination for digital puzzle games including the NYT Crossword, Spelling Bee, Connections, Crossplay, and Wordle. **Key Responsibilities:** • Lead a team of iOS and Android engineers using Swift and Kotlin • Define and drive multi-year technical strategy for mobile platform • Develop people through coaching, mentoring, and feedback • Collaborate with product owners, designers, and producers on high-quality mobile products • Build reusable platform capabilities across the Games team • Modernize development lifecycle with best practices and AI-assisted tools • Work with App Platforms team on architecture, workflow, and coding standards **Basic Qualifications:** • 3+ years managing high-performing native mobile engineering teams • Deep technical fluency in complex, high-performance iOS apps • Ability to guide both iOS and Android roadmaps • Proven ability to navigate technical ambiguity and drive cross-functional initiatives • Passion for AI coding tools in mobile development **Preferred Qualifications:** • Track record leveraging AI tooling for mobile development efficiency • Experience partnering with web and backend engineers • Experience building reusable platform capabilities **Location:** Hybrid (NYC headquarters, 2-3+ days/week in office) **Compensation:** $185,000–$210,000 USD base salary, plus variable pay, bonuses, RSUs, and comprehensive benefits
