**2027 Summer Intern, MS/PhD, Data Science - Commercialization Testing** **About Waymo** Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips and has autonomously driven over 100 million miles on public roads. **The Role** Waymo's Systems Engineering team is seeking interns to work on data science projects that create real impact. You'll partner with industry leaders while expanding your skill-set in a fun and rewarding environment. **What You'll Do** • Develop, implement, and refine Bayesian forecasting models to interpret small-sample test results • Build and optimize predictive analytics models to monitor fleet operations and analyze vehicle behavior • Collaborate with Test Engineers to design experimental procedures on closed courses and simulation environments • Extract, process, and analyze large-scale, high-dimensional datasets from vehicle logs using Python and SQL • Partner with Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, and Product teams on key performance characteristics **Required Qualifications** • Enrolled in a graduate program (Master's or PhD) in Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Civil Engineering, or highly quantitative field • Strong foundation in predictive analytics, Bayesian modeling, and statistical inference • Production-quality Python proficiency • Strong SQL skills with large-scale database experience • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex quantitative results to non-technical stakeholders **Preferred Qualifications** • Academic experience in traffic flow theory, intelligent transportation systems, or urban mobility • Familiarity with autonomous vehicle technology or systems engineering principles • Experience with survival analysis, probability modeling, or extreme value theory • Comfort with ambiguous, unstructured problems in fast-paced R&D environments **Compensation & Details** • **Masters**: $70/hour | **PhD**: $85/hour • Hybrid onsite position • Eligible for company benefits programs • Rolling applications until filled
