**Sr. Director, Engineering - TwoTwenty (Innovation Lab)** **About the Role:** Lead TwoTwenty, Pinterest's innovation lab building visual-first AI products. Own technical strategy for AI assistants, Gen-AI creation tools, and editing experiences. Manage a team of 10 across ML engineering, software engineering, data science, and product management. **Key Responsibilities:** • Drive execution of 1-3 year technical strategy across visual AI and creation tools • Own investment portfolio balancing near-term velocity with longer-term AI capability bets • Set bold OKRs tied to Pinner engagement; adjust quarterly based on results • Make final calls on technical trade-offs between speed and rigor • Lead integrated engineering output across mobile, backend, design, and LLM teams • Build strategic partnerships with core Pinterest teams for scaled AI feature shipping • Communicate roadmap and results to senior leadership; secure resources for new initiatives • Resolve cross-org prioritization conflicts to maintain rapid iteration cadence • Scale team from scrappy startup to high-performing org while preserving speed • Hire senior technical leaders (Staff/Principal level) across disciplines • Set technical bar for reliability, safety, and scale of agentic AI systems **What We're Looking For:** • Proven track record leading engineering orgs (manager-of-managers) shipping consumer AI/ML products at scale • Deep technical fluency in LLMs, generative AI, mobile engineering, or AI-driven experiences • Experience in high-ambiguity, greenfield environments with ability to pivot fast • Demonstrated ability to align design, product, and engineering around shared vision • Experience scaling teams while protecting speed and scrappiness • Hands-on experience with agentic AI architectures (tool-use, multi-step reasoning) • Startup environment experience highly preferred • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field **Work Location:** Hybrid - 1-2 days/month in-office.
