## About the Role Abnormal AI is seeking a **Software Engineer II** with a strong interest in **security and privacy** to join the **Data Security** team. In this role, you’ll help protect customer data by implementing rigorous security and privacy standards, along with robust governance practices. You’ll design, develop, and refine platform solutions that enforce **authentication, authorization, and auditability (AAA)**—ensuring customer data access is properly verified, appropriately permitted, and comprehensively logged. ### What you’ll bring - A practical security mindset: identify and address security vulnerabilities across the software development and operations lifecycle. - Ability to break down security and privacy challenges into practical technical solutions and lead their implementation. - Skill and passion for leveraging **AI-native approaches** to improve team workflows and engineering practices. - Collaboration with product engineering teams to integrate security and privacy best practices into a **microservice architecture**, reducing implementation overhead. - Leadership growth: every team member is expected to lead within their project areas, regardless of level or title. ## What you will do - Apply practical security principles and AI-native workflows to deliver solutions for end users and internal partners. - Lead and deliver impactful enhancements for the Data Security team, enforcing security and privacy standards to support ongoing product and market expansion. - Design and implement customer data governance solutions that enable **security and privacy by design**. - Reconcile platform, security, and privacy requirements to build a secure platform that empowers global engineering teams to deliver high-quality software at high velocity. ## Must Haves - Excellent written and verbal communication skills (remote-first team). - **2+ years** of experience as a software engineer. - Strong computer science and programming fundamentals. - Experience with system design and cloud infrastructure. - Experience with **Golang** and **Python**. ## Nice to Have - Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and data security/privacy problem spaces, best practices, and related technologies. - Understanding of distributed computing, CAP theorem, and system design tradeoffs. - **BS degree** in Computer Science or a related engineering field. --- **Compensation & Benefits** Actual compensation will be determined based on non-discriminatory factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for bonus/incentive compensation, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package. **Base salary range:** **$149,200 – $214,500 USD** #LI-NT1
