We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. **About the Role** As an Applied AI Field Researcher, you will drive the adoption of frontier AI by developing customized AI solutions and collaborating with top enterprises to advance model capabilities. You'll leverage your customer-facing engineering experience and technical skills to customize Anthropic's frontier LLMs through finetuning and partner with customers to improve future versions of Claude. **Key Responsibilities** • Design and execute high-quality finetuning projects for critical customers • Partner with customers to identify domains where Claude should improve • Leverage advanced machine learning skills to optimize finetuning strategies • Collaborate closely with ML researchers on cutting-edge techniques • Partner with account executives to translate requirements into solutions • Serve as primary technical advisor for customers on finetuning projects • Stay current with latest advancements in AI and reinforcement learning • Travel occasionally to customer sites for workshops and implementation support **You May Be a Good Fit If You Have** • 3+ years of experience training or finetuning deep learning models • Experience in a customer or client-facing role • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or related field • Experience designing evals, building RL environments, or contributing to model training pipelines • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred) • Recent experience building production systems with large language models • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Passion for safe and beneficial AI systems **Logistics** • Minimum: Bachelor's degree or equivalent • Hybrid policy: 25% in-office minimum • Visa sponsorship available • Competitive compensation and benefits *We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every qualification.*
