**Senior Software Engineer, Core Platform** **About the Role** Join Upstart's Servicing Engineering team to build cutting-edge loan servicing platforms and drive business process automation. You'll work on distributed systems that process business-critical financial data, optimize workflows, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. **What You'll Do** • Lead cross-team, multi-quarter projects with multiple engineers • Drive both existing and greenfield projects forward with end-user focus • Design and build scalable backend services and distributed systems • Contribute to decision engines integrating machine learning models • Help build our engineering team and improve our tech platform **Required Experience** • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent (5+ years professional software engineering) • 3+ years developing backend applications in Kotlin, Java, or similar OOP languages • Experience designing distributed systems, service-to-service APIs, and event-driven architectures • Production experience with scalable backend services handling financial data • Experience with decision engines integrating ML models • Strong testing, monitoring, and observability practices **Preferred Qualifications** • SQL, data warehouses, or database technologies • Microservices architecture design and deployment • 3rd party system integration and large-scale data handling • Strong ownership and accountability mindset • Growth-oriented with ability to incorporate feedback • Thrives in both self-directed and collaborative environments **Location & Travel** Remote (US/Canada) | East/West Coast time zones | Quarterly in-person onsites (2-4 days) **Compensation** 🇺🇸 US Remote: $166,900 – $230,900 USD 🇨🇦 Canada Remote: $153,000 – $190,000 CAD *Includes bonus, equity, 401(k) match, comprehensive health coverage, paid leave, and more.*
