**Sr. Engineering Manager - Payments** **About the Role** Cedar is seeking a Sr. Engineering Manager to lead the Payments Pillar through a critical evolution of our payments architecture. You'll lead two Payments teams (combination of individual contributors and engineering managers) to scale payment capabilities across multiple product lines while improving system observability and performance. **Key Responsibilities** • Partner with staff and principal engineers to evolve Cedar's Payments architecture and decouple payment capabilities from business logic • Lead, coach, and develop Engineering Managers and individual contributors across the Payments Pillar • Establish metrics and instrumentation to understand performance across payment features and workflows • Balance new payment capabilities with foundational architecture and operational investments alongside Product and Commercial teams • Own engineering relationships and technical outcomes for third-party payment vendor integrations • Lead cross-team initiatives to improve delivery effectiveness **Required Qualifications** • 8+ years of professional experience • 3+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers • Experience owning third-party vendor integrations • Proven track record owning business-critical production systems • Strong cross-functional partnership skills (Product, Commercial) • Sound judgment balancing speed, experimentation, and quality • Clear communication and ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities • Commitment to high execution standards and team growth • Passion for improving healthcare financial experience **Preferred Qualifications** • Payments, fintech, or related domain experience • Experience modernizing or decoupling complex production systems • Experience with agentic or AI-enabled workflows at scale • Experience driving adoption of agentic development practices and AI-assisted tooling **Compensation & Benefits** • Salary: $221,000–$260,000 (based on location, experience, education) • Equity eligible • Unlimited PTO (20 days vacation recommended) • 16 weeks paid parental leave • 100% 401(k) match up to 3% • Flexible work (remote/office) • Professional development budget • Comprehensive health benefits **About Cedar** Cedar is a leading healthcare financial platform addressing a critical challenge: over 50 million Americans face adverse financial consequences from healthcare costs annually.
