**Principal Software Engineer I - Serverless - Platform Control Plane** **About the Role** The Control Plane Serverless team builds and operates the orchestration layer behind Elastic Cloud Serverless. This is a Principal level role where you'll shape the technical direction of our fully managed, stateless architecture that separates compute from storage and scales automatically with customer demand. You'll build distributed services that create, configure, scale, and manage the lifecycle of Serverless projects across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, and own Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK). Our stack is built on Kubernetes, Go, and cloud-native architectures. **What You'll Do** • Set technical direction for major initiatives across the Serverless control plane • Lead multi-quarter projects with cross-team dependencies through to delivery • Design and evolve distributed systems that orchestrate Serverless projects across cloud providers • Raise the operational bar through incident investigation and on-call participation • Mentor engineers and set standards for how we build software • Partner with product and senior stakeholders on technical trade-offs and roadmap direction • Champion improvements to security, stability, and cost efficiency **What You Bring** • 8+ years building software, including setting technical direction for complex distributed systems at scale (Staff/Principal level or equivalent) • Deep expertise in Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture • Proficiency with Go and hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure • Experience operating high-availability SaaS platforms and improving reliability • Strong async communication and collaborative problem-solving skills
