**Senior Machine Learning Engineer** **About Planet:** Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical data to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors through a cloud-based platform. **About the Role:** Join Planet's Analytics Team for Global Monitoring to drive hands-on engineering and modeling for Defense and Intelligence applications. You'll develop novel embeddings-based change detection, advanced computer vision techniques, and deploy solutions at continental and global scales. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Arlington, VA (3 days/week on-site). **Impact You'll Own:** • Spearhead development of novel ML algorithms for Defense and Intelligence applications • Optimize model performance for high-throughput inference at scale • Innovate computer vision, time series, and embeddings-based techniques • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers • Integrate ML pipelines with software engineering platforms • Establish testing, validation, and monitoring frameworks **What You Bring:** • 10+ years relevant experience (6+ in machine learning) • Expertise in data science, time series, computer vision, and embeddings • Strong neural network implementation and optimization skills • Experience with large datasets, geospatial libraries, PyTorch/TensorFlow • Clean Python code and software best practices (Git, testing, CI/CD) • Model deployment experience (Docker, Kubernetes) • AWS or GCP experience • Graduate degree in STEM or equivalent work experience • Located in Washington DC metro or able to commute to Arlington, VA 3x/week • Ability to obtain and maintain US Security Clearance **What Makes You Stand Out:** • Remote sensing, satellite imagery, or geospatial domain knowledge • Coordinate reference systems and geospatial data formats (GeoTIFF, GeoJSON) • Experience building geospatial/sensor-driven data products • Model compression, GPU optimization, or distributed training expertise **Compensation & Benefits:** US Salary Range: $160,600 – $200,800 USD Benefits include comprehensive medical/dental/vision, HSA, generous PTO, 16 weeks paid parental leave, home office reimbursement, tuition reimbursement, equity, and more. **Application Deadline:** November 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT **Note:** This position requires access to export-controlled information and ability to obtain US Security Clearance.
