**Senior Detection and Response Engineer** **About Faire** Faire is a technology wholesale platform connecting independent retailers globally with products from around the world. We're using tech, data, and machine learning to power the shop local movement. **About This Role** As the first Detection & Response engineer, you'll build detection and response capability from the ground up for our enterprise environment. You'll monitor threats across identity systems, employee laptops, SaaS applications, enterprise network, and internal infrastructure. This is a zero-to-one role offering significant autonomy. **What You'll Do** • Shape technical direction for detection and response; define roadmap and make the case for tooling • Build detection engineering end-to-end: telemetry pipelines, detection content, alert routing, enrichment • Bring threat-informed perspective; track adversary operations and translate into detections and hunts • Own detections and data pipelines written as IaaC • Automate triage, enrichment, and response to scale alert volume efficiently • Collaborate with IAM, CPE, NetEng, and IT Infrastructure teams • Partner with Enterprise Security to translate findings into control improvements **Qualifications** • Deep hands-on experience in detection engineering, incident response, or security operations • Expertise in corporate attack surfaces: identity providers, SSO, EDR telemetry, email security, SaaS logs, device management, network access • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL • Ability to build and maintain detection-as-code pipelines • Practical experience with SIEM, EDR, and security analytics platforms • Investigative depth on endpoints, cloud, and SaaS environments • Excellent written communication and collaborative influence • Bonus: Founding security hire experience, insider threat detection, offensive security background, incident commander experience, or forensics depth **Compensation & Benefits** San Francisco: $174,500 - $240,000/year + equity and comprehensive benefits **Work Arrangement** Hybrid: 3 days/week in office (Tuesdays, Thursdays, + one flex day) with up to 4 weeks remote flexibility annually
