**Staff Data Engineer** **About the role:** Webflow is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to take ownership of key initiatives across Data Platform Engineering, including the data lake, event instrumentation, data quality, and data governance. **Location:** Remote-first (United States) **Type:** Full-time, Permanent, Exempt **Compensation:** - Zone A: $212,500 - $255,000 - Zone B: $200,000 - $240,000 - Zone C: $186,500 - $224,000 - Eligible for company-wide bonus program **Key Responsibilities:** • Design data solutions across batch, streaming, and real-time workloads • Design and build reliable data pipelines using Spark, Kafka, Iceberg, and Airflow/MWAA • Build, maintain and scale cloud data infrastructure (Kafka, Airflow, Druid, EMR on EKS) • Implement and improve data quality, observability, reliability, and governance • Define standards for event instrumentation and governance • Build platform solutions for PII handling, data retention, deletion, and residency (GDPR/CCPA) • Contribute hands-on to complex technical initiatives and mentor engineers **Requirements:** • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience • 5+ years of data engineering experience building production pipelines and platforms • Strong experience with Spark and distributed data processing • Experience with batch, real-time, and streaming solutions (Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming, CDC) • Experience implementing data quality, observability, and reliability • Experience with cloud data infrastructure, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code • Demonstrated leadership on complex data engineering initiatives • Strong programming and SQL skills **Ideal Candidate:** • Navigates ambiguous problems and makes pragmatic technical decisions • Thinks end-to-end about the data ecosystem • Experienced with data governance, privacy, PII management, GDPR/CCPA • Experienced with event instrumentation and schema governance • Collaborates effectively and establishes engineering best practices • Embraces AI and emerging technologies **Benefits:** • Equity (RSUs) in the company • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage • 12 weeks paid parental leave • Flexible vacation and sabbatical program • Mental health resources and wellness support • 401(k) with 100% employer match (up to $6,000/year) • Monthly wellness and work stipends **Reporting to:** Manager, Data Engineering
