**AI Scientist Intern, Computational Protein Design** **About Xaira Therapeutics** Xaira is an innovative biotech startup leveraging AI to transform drug discovery and development. The company develops generative AI models for protein and antibody therapeutics, foundation models for biology and disease, and aims to enable identification of novel therapies. Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and London. **About the Role** Work alongside talented scientists and engineers developing generative AI models for protein and antibody therapeutic design. Contribute to advancing state-of-the-art machine learning models for biology with a focus on protein/antibody design and drug discovery. Collaborate with interdisciplinary experts in biology, drug discovery, and clinical research. **Responsibilities** • Develop and apply deep learning methods for protein/antibody structure, sequence, or property modeling • Implement and train models on GPUs using PyTorch • Contribute to research projects involving protein structure, sequence, or biophysical/affinity datasets • Participate in discussions to generate innovative ideas for AI methodologies in computational protein design • Document findings and communicate progress to peers and mentors **Qualifications** • Currently pursuing MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related technical field with strong publication record • Hands-on experience with PyTorch and training/inference of AI models on GPUs • Strong interest in AI innovation and applications to biology and chemistry • Extensive deep learning methods and frameworks experience • Collaborative team skills and ability to learn from mentors • Scientifically curious mindset with passion for new challenges • Prior research experience demonstrated through publications and/or open source code authorship **Plus:** Large-scale distributed training/inference experience, molecular structure/biological sequence data exposure, computational biology/bioinformatics background, interest in open-source deep learning contributions **Duration & Compensation** 3 months | $10,000–$15,000/month (depending on experience; higher compensation available for exceptional candidates)
