**Machine Learning Scientist** **About the Role** Join Cellarity's ML team as a Machine Learning Scientist to lead efforts in applying and adapting proprietary foundation models for our predictive drug discovery platform. You'll develop and apply AI methods to identify novel interventions and targets, accelerating early drug discovery through hands-on modeling of high-dimensional biological data. **Key Responsibilities** **Model Development** • Apply, fine-tune, and post-train foundation models (transformer-based, diffusion, VAE) on single-cell RNA-seq and other modalities • Build perturbation models using multi-modal data (small molecules, CRISPR, cytokines) with emphasis on CRISPR screen data • Develop mechanistic interpretability methods for gene networks and regulatory mechanisms • Deploy and run inference on generative AI models using proprietary datasets on cloud platforms • Establish clinically relevant benchmarking and evaluation frameworks • Stay current with latest research in foundation models and representation learning **Scientific Collaboration** • Work with interdisciplinary teams from biology, chemistry, and technology • Collaborate with other Flagship Pioneering companies on platform modules • Communicate technical concepts to diverse scientific audiences **Required Experience** • PhD in Computer Science, Computational Biology, or related field; OR Master's + 3+ years; OR Bachelor's + 6+ years of relevant ML research experience • Strong foundation in statistics, deep learning, and generative AI • Experience with high-dimensional biological data analysis (RNA-seq, gene networks, multi-omics) • Experience with CRISPR/chemical perturbation screen data • Familiarity with single-cell foundation models (Geneformer, scGPT, scFoundation) • Experience fine-tuning pretrained foundation models for biological tasks • Cloud computing experience (AWS/GCP) and MLOps best practices • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills **Nice to Have** • Experience building agentic AI systems for scientific discovery • Familiarity with target identification in drug discovery **Compensation & Benefits** Salary: $132,000 - $209,000 | Healthcare, annual incentive program, retirement benefits, and more **About Cellarity** A clinical-phase biotech startup using AI and single-cell omics to develop life-changing medicines.
