**Staff Software Engineer, Data Collection (Tags & SDKs)** **Position ID:** P-1607 **About the Role:** Lead the end-to-end data collection stack at Databricks, including browser tags, mobile SDKs, server-side endpoints, and ingest infrastructure. This role spans client and server-side systems that run on customer websites and applications, requiring exceptional quality, reliability, and developer experience. **Key Responsibilities:** • Lead collection stack end-to-end: browser tag, mobile SDKs, server-side endpoints, and ingest path • Define schema and versioning contracts with cross-SDK compatibility • Lead identity handling across anonymous/authenticated records, devices, and sessions • Drive integrations with CustomerLake products (Profile & Campaign Agents) • Maintain strict budgets on page weight, latency, and failure behavior • Partner with product, design, and engineering teams on scalable solutions **What We're Looking For:** • 10+ years of engineering experience with tech lead or senior leadership background • Proven ownership of SDKs/client libraries for external developers (iOS/Android) • Deep browser JavaScript expertise: bundle size, async loading, CSP, storage, tracking prevention • High-throughput server-side collection experience: edge endpoints, batching, retries, delivery guarantees • Practical knowledge of consent, privacy requirements, and data minimization • Strong ownership and bias for action in 0→1 environments • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills • *Nice to have:* TLM experience, CDP/analytics SDK/tag management background, incident response expertise **Compensation & Benefits:** Salary Range: $190,900 – $253,750 USD (based on location and qualifications) Additional benefits include annual performance bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits package. **About Databricks:** Databricks is the Data and AI company trusted by 20,000+ organizations worldwide, including 70% of the Fortune 500.
