**Senior Software Engineer, Backend - SIG** **About the Team** Maritime Digital Production (MDP) is the software and digital systems function within Anduril's Heavy Metal division. We build the full technology stack powering Anduril's shipbuilding factories: data infrastructure, manufacturing execution systems (ArsenalOS), scheduling engines, and AI systems. MDP operates at the boundary between Operational Technology and Information Technology, scaling from a founding team to 70+ engineers across multiple U.S. sites. **About the Job** As a Backend Software Engineer on the Systems Integrity Group (SIG), you will build backend services and APIs powering simulation, digital twin validation, and V&V automation systems. You'll develop systems integrating simulation frameworks, geometric validation services, and 3D visualization data with enterprise systems to verify manufactured output matches engineering intent. **What You'll Do** • Design and implement backend services orchestrating simulation frameworks and digital twin validation workflows • Develop APIs exposing validation results, geometric comparison data, and simulation outputs • Partner with manufacturing engineers to translate production workflows into backend requirements • Write production-quality code with comprehensive tests • Build integration layers retrieving CAD geometry, scan data, and specifications from PLM/MES systems • Design databases optimized for simulation results and V&V records • Implement event-driven architectures triggering validation workflows • Deploy and operate systems in factory environments including edge compute clusters • Optimize backend performance for computationally intensive workloads • Build data pipelines feeding production data to digital twins and visualization systems • Join on-call rotation supporting production factory systems **Required Qualifications** • 6+ years building production systems in fast-paced environments • Strong backend development expertise with distributed systems and API design • Proficiency in backend languages (Python, Go, Java, Rust) • Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) • Strong RESTful API, GraphQL, or gRPC design knowledge • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) • Docker and Kubernetes familiarity • Git, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipeline experience • Experience building reliable systems under operational constraints • Excellent communication skills across engineering and operations teams • CS degree or equivalent practical experience • U.S. Person status required (export controlled data access) **Preferred Qualifications** • Manufacturing, industrial, or OT domain experience (MES, SCADA, PLC, factory automation) • PLM, quality management systems, or CAD/CAM integration experience • Simulation frameworks, digital twin systems, or V&V automation background • 3D geometric data, point clouds, or CAD model processing experience • Event-driven architectures and message queue experience (Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS) • AI tooling and AI-enabled development workflows • Hyper-growth startup environment experience • Microservices and API gateway patterns • Monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) • Manufacturing industry hands-on exposure • Computational geometry or geometric validation knowledge • Aerospace/defense verification and validation processes • 3D visualization backend support (Unreal Engine, Unity) • Eligible for U.S. Secret security clearance *
