**Staff Applied Scientist - Metalab** **About KoBold:** KoBold builds AI models for mineral exploration and deploys novel sensors to guide exploration decisions. Since 2018, we've become the largest independent mineral exploration company and exploration technology developer, with a portfolio of 60+ projects and a proven discovery of one of the best copper deposits ever found. **About The Role:** You will develop state-of-the-art instruments for data collection, build predictive models using scientific computing and physics-based methods, and help create a worldwide dataset for mineral exploration. Working with geoscientists and engineers, you'll design hardware, deploy sensors in the field, and develop software to accelerate discovery of critical battery metals. **Key Responsibilities:** • Design and deploy new mineral exploration data collection instruments • Develop proprietary exploration software tools • Build models for predicting ore-grade mineralization locations in 2D and 3D • Apply data processing, statistical, and physics-based techniques to geoscientific data • Create effective visualizations for model evaluation and data interaction • Collaborate with geoscientists, engineers, and external partners **Required Qualifications:** • Demonstrated ability to absorb complex information with high intellectual rigor • Experience with physical measurement systems (optics, electromagnetism, radiation, gravity) • Strong Python data science skills and software engineering practices • Experience with SQL, cloud computing, and collaborative development (git) • Expertise in building and evaluating predictive models • Ability to work with limited, disparate, and noisy data sources • Field sensor deployment experience • Strong communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills **Helpful Experience:** Remote sensing, geospatial machine learning, computer vision, project management **What to Expect:** Full-time Exempt | Remote (US/Canada) | 10-20% travel required **Salary:** $125,000 - $235,000 + equity + comprehensive benefits KoBold Metals is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
