**Staff+ Software Engineer, RL Data Platform** **About the Role** Anthropicis seeking a Staff+ Software Engineer for the RL Data Platform team. This full-stack, ownership-heavy role on a small, senior team involves designing and shipping web interfaces for thousands of expert annotators, building backend services and data pipelines, and working directly with RL researchers. You'll scope your own projects, make architectural decisions, and see them through to production. **Key Responsibilities** • Design, build, and operate feedback and data collection interfaces for annotators, domain experts, and researchers • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and pipelines routing model samples to humans and returning structured feedback • Own reliability, latency, and usability of systems running continuously against live model endpoints • Partner with RL researchers to translate data needs into well-scoped collection campaigns • Build dashboards, monitoring, and inspection tools for data quality visibility • Identify and remove bottlenecks between data conception and training integration **Minimum Qualifications** • Strong full-stack engineering: TypeScript/React frontend, Python backend • Experience designing and operating backend services and data pipelines • Track record of end-to-end project ownership from brief to production • Ability to work with technical stakeholders with changing needs; judgment to push back appropriately • Effective use of AI tools in day-to-day work • Care about societal impacts of your work **Preferred Qualifications** • Experience with annotation, labeling, evaluation, or human-in-the-loop data tooling • RLHF, preference data, or human-feedback pipeline experience • Shipped researcher-facing internal tools with measurable UX improvements • Data collection interface experimentation and optimization • Crowdworker or expert vendor platform experience at scale • Familiarity with LLM training and evaluation **Compensation & Logistics** 💰 $320,000–$405,000 USD annually 📍 Hybrid (25% office minimum; some roles require more) 🎓 Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required ✅ Visa sponsorship available **Learn More** Visit anthropic.com/careers for confirmed openings.
