**Senior Software Engineer, Core Engine** **About the Role** Join the Game Engine team's Systems Runtime pod, which builds and maintains foundational C++ components powering the entire Roblox engine and Studio stack. This position focuses on the Concurrency system—the task scheduler and fiber runtime that every other engineering team relies on. **Key Responsibilities** • Own part of the engine's Concurrency system: task scheduler, fiber runtime, and async APIs • Research and implement performance improvements for platform initiatives • Serve as the point of contact for concurrency across the organization • Improve ergonomics, testability, and debuggability of concurrent code across PC, Mac, mobile, and console **Required Experience** • Strong modern C++ (C++17 or newer) in large, complex production codebases • Deep multithreading/concurrency expertise: schedulers, thread pools, lock-free programming, atomics, memory models • Profiling and performance reasoning at the OS/CPU level **Nice to Have** • Game engine or real-time systems experience • Fiber/coroutine runtimes, work-stealing or job-system schedulers • Cross-platform low-level development (Android, iOS, console) • Track record as the go-to expert other teams consult on a system **Compensation & Location** San Mateo, CA headquarters | Onsite Tue-Thu (Mon-Fri optional) Salary: $196,750 – $243,290 USD + equity + benefits
