Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, and Y Combinator, Modern Health is a fully remote, hyper-growth company recognized for innovation and excellence. **About the Role** Growth Engineering builds and maintains reliable, configurable systems powering scalable client launches and secure member access. You'll own eligibility processing, identity and access, client configuration platforms, and reporting infrastructure—the engineering core of how Modern Health onboards, authenticates, and scales globally. We're seeking a Staff Software Engineer with high ownership across the full stack. You'll work cross-functionally with product and design, translate ambiguous problems into clear technical plans, and execute both individually and collaboratively. Expect to be ramped up and owning critical roadmap components within 30 days. **What You'll Do** • Full-stack product development with backend focus • Build and maintain GraphQL APIs using Python (Django, Flask) • Implement web and mobile experiences with React & React Native • Engineer efficient, reusable systems for complex applications • Maintain HIPAA and GDPR compliance through security best practices • Write and execute technical specs/RFCs for large, cross-domain projects • Lead ambiguous projects collaboratively with design, product, and engineering teams • Own launch timelines, decompose work, and coordinate dependencies • Mentor engineers and contribute to cross-team engineering initiatives • Participate in on-call and drive process improvements **Tech Stack** Python, Django, Flask, FastAPI, GraphQL, REST, React, React Native, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, AWS **Requirements** • 8+ years software development experience • 2+ years production full-stack web development (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, React Native) • Deep familiarity with the tech stack or comparable alternative • Demonstrated high ownership and ability to decompose ambiguous problems • Track record writing technical specs/RFCs and driving cross-functional initiatives • Experience building GraphQL/REST APIs and scaling relational databases • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills • Experience mentoring and leading distributed teams • Passion for improving lives through technology • Must maintain work authorization without employer sponsorship **Bonus Experience** SSO/SAML/OIDC/JWT, AI/LLM features, SQL/bash scripting, AWS, high-growth startups, Health Tech/HR **Note:** Not eligible to be performed in Hawaii.
