**Data Engineer II** *Aliso Viejo, CA* **About the Role** The Data Engineering Team fuels real-time, intelligent data insights for PlayStation's Cloud Streaming offering. You'll collaborate across PlayStation to deliver a scalable and reliable data platform that drives a data-first culture. As a Data Engineer II, you'll develop and maintain server-side applications for shaping, managing, and transforming data on large geographically distributed infrastructure. Your work includes developing JVM-based applications using Kotlin, Scala, or Java, Flink jobs, and APIs to provide real-time data and insights across the Cloud Streaming ecosystem. **Key Responsibilities** • Design and implement middleware and backend systems for high throughput and load • Develop and maintain stream processing jobs using Flink and scalable ETL jobs • Optimize performance, reliability, and monitoring of the data pipeline stack • Support migration of on-premises Kafka to cloud technologies • Perform in-depth analysis of functional and business requirements • Contribute to architectural decisions for PlayStation's cloud streaming data pipeline • Liaise with Business Intelligence and product teams to turn data into business value **Required Qualifications** • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) • 3+ years of software development and backend engineering experience with high throughput, concurrent systems • Proficient in JVM Languages (Kotlin, Scala, Java) and Python • Experience with Apache Kafka, Flink, Spark, and SQL • Knowledge of software paradigms: functional programming, OOP, TDD • Knowledge of web technologies: REST, JSON, gRPC, WebSockets • Expertise with data structures (JSON, Avro, Protobuf) and unstructured/semi-structured data • Experience with ETL, stream processing, real-time and batch pipelines • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools • Track record of monitoring and analyzing system performance • Self-motivated with strong communication skills for remote collaboration **Preferred Qualifications** • AWS enterprise-scale experience (OpenSearch, MSK, EKS) • Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud deployment technologies **Compensation & Benefits** Estimated base pay: $150,100 – $225,100 USD Eligible for comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, PTO, wellness program, employee discounts, and potential bonus package.
