About this role

**People Intelligence Architect** **About the Role** We're seeking a cross-disciplinary builder to own our people data ecosystem end-to-end—from raw pipelines to predictive models to agentic workflows that turn insight into action. This senior individual contributor role leads through technical depth and craft, designing architecture, writing production code, and setting the technical bar for how People data and AI work at Block. You'll operate at the intersection of data engineering, data science, people analytics, and agentic AI—fluent enough in each to see how the whole system connects, and hands-on enough to build it yourself. **Key Responsibilities** • Design and maintain reliable data pipelines unifying people data across HRIS, ATS, performance, compensation, and engagement systems • Model data for analytics and ML with focus on quality, lineage, privacy, and governance of sensitive workforce data • Build predictive and diagnostic models (attrition, hiring funnel health, org network analysis, compensation equity, workforce planning) • Translate ambiguous people questions into rigorous, defensible analyses and actionable decisions • Partner on semi-annual employee engagement surveys—from design through analysis to actionable insight • Design and deploy AI agents and automations that operationalize insight without manual effort • Establish guardrails, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop patterns for safe agentic systems on sensitive data • Own the architecture connecting pipelines, models, and agents into one coherent system • Set technical direction and standards for People data and AI through code review, design docs, and peer mentorship • Partner with People, Data Platform, Security, and Legal on compliance, scalability, and utility **Required Experience** • 8+ years of relevant experience • Proven data pipeline building (SQL, Python, dbt/Airflow or similar, cloud data warehouses) • Solid data science foundation—statistics, ML, experiment design, and judgment on model complexity • Working knowledge of people/HR data and its sensitivity, ethics, and nuance • Hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic frameworks—automations, prompts, tool-use, and evaluation loops • Strong systems thinking and excellent communication across technical and executive audiences **Nice to Have** • Experience with people analytics platforms (Workday, Visier, etc.) • Background in organizational network analysis or workforce planning • Experience deploying AI in regulated or privacy-sensitive environments **Compensation** Market-based pay varies by location (Zone A–D: $142,600–$257,600 USD) **Why This Role** Most companies split this work across multiple siloed roles. You'll own the whole system and use agentic AI to make it more than the sum of its parts—deep technical ownership and impact without stepping off the tools to manage a team.
