**Sr. Software Development Engineer (Controlplane)** **About the Role** Join Zscaler's Zero Trust Exchange team as a Sr. Software Development Engineer focused on control plane systems. This hybrid role (3 days/week in San Jose, CA) involves leading the design and development of highly scalable, resilient, and secure control plane platform services. **What You'll Do** • Lead architecture, design, and delivery of large-scale control plane and platform services • Drive complex cross-team technical initiatives and align stakeholders on execution plans • Identify and resolve system bottlenecks, reliability risks, and architectural gaps • Set high technical standards through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship • Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted workflows, to improve productivity **What We're Looking For** • 3+ years of software engineering experience with significant distributed systems background • Deep expertise in system design, microservices architecture, and highly available services • Strong proficiency in Java, Go, or Python • Experience leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams • Cloud-native technologies and reliability engineering knowledge • Demonstrated curiosity and active exploration of AI tools **Preferred Qualifications** • AI-forward engineering practices experience • Control plane, policy, or security platform systems background in SaaS/cybersecurity • Track record mentoring senior engineers and leading architecture standards **Compensation & Benefits** Base Pay Range: $115,500 – $165,000 USD Comprehensive benefits including health plans, time off, parental leave, retirement options, and education reimbursement. **About Zscaler** An AI-forward enterprise leveraging the world's largest security data lake to power Zero Trust Exchange.
