**Senior Software Engineer, Payments** **THE WORK:** Join Ripple and help redefine global payments! Develop enterprise-level payment applications enabling FinTech and banks to settle cross-border payments instantly, securely, and efficiently. As a technical guide, you'll collaborate with engineers to prototype solutions, mentor the team, and work with product, legal, and business development teams. **WHAT YOU'LL DO:** • Deep understanding of distributed systems architectures and payment transaction challenges • Build highly scalable and performant enterprise software • Demonstrate excellent Java expertise (threading, concurrency, etc.) • Work openly and collaboratively with diverse teams • Be the go-to person for technical questions and knowledge sharing • Encourage engineering standards across teams **WHAT YOU'LL BRING:** • **5+ years** Software Engineering experience with backend systems focus • Deep hands-on backend engineering building cloud-native, highly-available distributed systems • Proven track record designing complex features in large-scale, regulated environments • Strong API design and integration skills (REST, gRPC) • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS) • Ability to navigate and reduce technical debt while driving business value • Strong technical ownership and cross-team influence **PREFERRED:** • Java + Spring Boot experience (or other robust backend stacks: Go, Kotlin, C#, Python, Rust) • Event-driven architecture experience (Kafka, SNS/SQS) **COMPENSATION:** CA Annual Base Salary: $172,000 – $215,000 USD (plus equity and additional compensation) **BENEFITS:** • Competitive salary, bonuses, and equity • Comprehensive healthcare, retirement, and family support • Professional development budget • Flexible in-office collaboration (10+ days/month) • R&R days, generous wellness reimbursement, and vacation policy • Industry-leading parental leave and family planning benefits • Catered lunches and premium snacks *Ripple is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.*
